We measure heating and hot water system efficiency through the amount of usable heat extracted from the potential energy of your fuel. If your heating system's efficiency is evaluated at 85%, 85 cents of every dollar spent for heat and hot water are consumed. The balance is exhausted through your chimney or flue exhaust.

Heating oil is a safe substance to use to heat your home. If a leak ever occurs, it is not a danger, unlike natural gas. Heating oil does not burn in a liquid state. A lit match will be extinguished when placed in a vial of heating oil because the heating oil in liquid form is well below its flash point of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Heating oil will only reach this temperature when it's vaporized inside the burner. In contrast, natural gas will burst into flames when mixed with air when a match is struck in its presence.
